Sun Gemini/Moon Sagittarius 20° 39’
Hello to my friends, family and fans. I would like to extend a joyful welcome to my new followers and subscribers as well as my appreciation for my continued audience!
Thank you for your patience as I took some time off to enjoy a wonderful vacation and celebrate my FIFTIETH solar revolution (that’s birthdays for the non-’astro-speak’).
I love Gemini season, especially as a Solar Gemini. My natal Lunar Nodes inhabit the Gemini/Sagittarius axis that is being highlighted in our current lunar cycle, so I live this energy - moment to moment. The activation of my natal chart has been present and palpable for me. And I hope to bring it to life in my words, here, for you.
A few keywords associated with Gemini are communication, wordsmithing, and quick-wittedness. A quote that has always resonated within me is from one of my favorite modern fictional stories, Harry Potter.
“I've always prized myself on my ability to turn a phrase. Words are, in my not so humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of magic, capable of both inflicting injury and remedying it.” ~the character of Albus Dumbledore
Logic, Intuition, and the Container of Truth
Gemini is associated with the taking in of information (its co-rulership sign of Virgo is the process of analyzing and discerning of said information). Gemini is our logic, our left-brain thinking, our ability to learn and utilize language. In the human experience, this archetypal energy allows us to hold multiple ideas, thoughts, and perspectives at the same time. It gives us a continuous renewal of curiosity.
Sagittarius is associated with expansion, learning and knowledge, intuition, hope and faith. It is our right-brain and our connection to the natural world. In the human experience, this archetypal energy connects us to our inner explorer in a search for Truth. Truth is as we perceive it to be. It sets us on the path to find answers.
“There are things known and there are things unknown, and in between are the doors of perception.” ~Aldous Huxley
The planet associated with Sagittarius is Jupiter. Jupiter has recently completed its transit of Gemini (which naturally opposes Sagittarius). I’ll add a bit about the next year of Jupiter in Cancer later. The planet associated with Gemini is Mercury, which is in a new phase conjunction with Jupiter at this lunation. The Sun in Gemini and the Moon in Sagittarius are being influenced by these planets who rule our logic (Mercury) and intuition (Jupiter).
It is a powerful reminder to embrace our Mercurial curiosity and follow our Sagittarian arrow inward.
Added pressure is coming from an aspect called a Grand Mutable Cross. This is the Sun and Moon axis crossed by the axis of the Lunar Nodes. When the Nodes are involved, there is a distinct challenge that is presented - remain haunted and imprisoned by your past or resolve to work with it while moving into your future.
This creates pressure points - choice points.
The Sun and Moon are in the Gemini/Sagittarius axis while the nodes are in Virgo/Pisces. These four signs make up the mutable modality. They are so labeled as they allow for and support transition.
A few of the primary opportunities for this lunation are:
Reflection and revision of the stories you tell yourself, about yourself.
Reflection and revision of your misaligned and ineffectual inner dialogue.
Reflection and revision of conditioned responses you employ to feel a sense of emotional safety.
This comes through challenge and adjustment. We must acknowledge our wounds, our perceived or real failures and shortcomings. We must reconcile our past with what we hope for the future and bring it into the present. We must hold this, connect with this, and make any necessary changes as we move forward.
There must be a reckoning - an accounting for - a judgement of what is TRUE for you in your current reality.
How will you realign your mindset to create a more secure inner-knowing?
Who told you how to be? How were you conditioned to believe?
What are your perspectives based on?
Imagine dragging a big bag of rocks over your shoulder everywhere you go. Each of these rocks is an idea or a belief that someone else has given you about who you are. As you grow older, the bag gets heavier and heavier. You may have grown tired of lugging it around by now.
What if today you decided to actually look at one of those rocks inside that bag, to begin sort out and determine which ones are no longer worth carrying?
It is possible to lighten your mental and emotional load.
What's the first one you think you would pull out?
Maybe it's “don't be so loud/too much.” Maybe it's “sit still, look pretty.” Maybe it's “be seen and not heard.”
Maybe it's “you're too big - you're too small - you're not the right color or gender.”
As you sit with the belief that is conveyed by the rock, ask yourself: is this a belief about myself that it truly belongs to me? Even if this was true of me in the past, do I still identify with that image of myself?
If you need a reminder, here it is. Give yourself permission to symbolically give back or throw away any part of your identity that was given to you or placed on you that no longer fits who you are now. Your rocks do not define you.
Here are some questions to ponder or journal prompts to use from the archetype of Jupiter/Sagittarius
What is an ideal space for you? Where do you feel most safe and most natural? Imagine this space - what is in your immediate surroundings? Who is there with you? What does a day feel like in your ideal world? What is the flow of time - of activity and rest? What keeps you from being in your most natural flow? Where would you like to explore next?
When you sit with these questions and thoughts, it may help you to understand what it is that is most natural and needed for you. Can you begin to bring in and make space for some of these things? Our needs are always with us. Unfortunately, we have been conditioned to deny them or minimize them in many ways.
It is time to reclaim yourself.
Expanding Consciousness
Saturn is the boundary of our consciousness. We experience it as a container in various ways as we move through this existence. It can sometimes feel like a prison to be broken free from. It can also feel like a protective barrier as we explore and grow. It is the archetype of change over time. This lunation and its connection to Saturn is asking you to create space for the integration of what is true for you now.
Saturn has recently completed its two and a half year transit through Pisces, yet continues its connection to Neptune (the planet associated with Pisces). Saturn, now in Aries, has a particular energy to bring to the collective, but it will not be fully felt as Arien until it is out of Neptune’s powerful influence.
Have you ever heard of the Goldfish Theory? Essentially, it is the idea that a goldfish grows to the size of its tank. While this has been reported to not be entirely accurate, there are some correlations that can be made. The determination is that there are more factors involved, such as stress, population of the tank, water quality, etc. that determine the growth of the fish.
This concept has been adapted and applied to workforce organizations and also to personal growth. It describes how we can be restricted by our environments and the quality of them - including the one inside our heads.
We can also grow - bigger, better, beyond - when we increase the capacity of our “tanks”.
This is the gift of Saturn in Aries and Jupiter in Cancer: creating and expanding our emotional container, increasing our emotional intelligence, and taking up space in and responding to our world with our increased capacity for empathy, compassion, understanding.
Will you be open to receiving?
Until next time, take care of you.
