I recently watched the movie Twisters (2024)-the follow up to the 1994 version Twister. Sure, it was predictable, but as a fan of the original, I enjoyed the nods to the original and the story overall. As I was watching, I thought it shows some potent archetypal details that I feel are incredibly strong during this astrological event.
Before I dig into the story, let me give you a high-level overview of looking at an eclipse in the chart. And, remember from my Virgo Full Moon-it’s all about cycles and spiraling upward. The New Moon signature is the symbols of the Sun and Moon together, here at 9°Aries. What make the eclipse is when the Full (Lunar) or New (Solar) Moons are connected to the Lunar Nodes. Those are the horseshoe-like symbols. The arrow here shows the North Node in Pisces at 27°. It is called a partial eclipse due to the differing signs and a wide degree of separation (orb). The nodes are not actual bodies, rather points in space where ‘lines’ of orbits intersect. They are often referred to as the Nodes of Fate as they are connected to our individual and collective trajectories.
This eclipse is the last one for the Aries cycle which started back in 2023. Are you still in the same part of the circle? Or have you spiraled up?
Where have you grown in the areas of taking action, showing up in life, being your own advocate? And what is being shown to you that still needs attention?
Now with a bit of technical out of the way, let’s dive into the storytelling-which is often much more fun!
{{SPOILER ALERT}}
I will be discussing the plot of the movie, although not difficult to figure out even from the trailers, you may want to skip this part if you haven’t seen it and intend to.
The movie opens with a group of young adults ‘storm-chasing’ in Oklahoma. Kate, the main character, has a theory about how to “tame a tornado”, as she describes it.
As the tornado approaches, they realize that it is much stronger than expected and they must seek cover. In the midst of the chaos, three of them are lost to the storm, including Kate’s boyfriend. CHAOS and LOSS.
Fast forward five years and Kate is now working as a meteorologist in New York. She receives a visit from Javi, the other survivor from the Oklahoma tornado. He is developing a new way to track, monitor, and understand these storms and he needs Kate’s help. She is known for her ‘connection’ to nature and natural ability to predict changes in the weather as well as her knowledge in meteorology. OPPORTUNITY.
She is hesitant. She carries a great deal of guilt around the loss. It was her experiment, after all. It also seems like she has yet to really face and resolve her deeper emotions around her losses. It as if she has tried to simply run away. She doesn’t stay in contact with her Mom or anyone back in Oklahoma. ESCAPISM. We cannot run away from ourselves.
Of course, she takes on the challenge just as an incredible ‘once-in-a-generation’ storm season is presenting itself. As Javi and Kate begin their experiments, enter the cowboy Tyler. Self-proclaimed “Tornado Wrangler” who films his team as they storm chase. He is portrayed as a self-interested, spotlight-loving enthusiast.
Kate eventually learns that Javi’s investor is taking advantage of the victims of the tornados and Tyler is the one with the heart-of-gold, so she switches sides. CLARITY/UNDERSTANDING/CHOICE.
Kate returns to her childhood home to clear her mind. She is greeted by her ever-concerned, loving mother. As she is immersed in memories, she must face all of her repressed emotions about her initial losses. As she is reminded of the devastation that others also face, she has a renewed sense of purpose for helping ‘tame the tornados’. RETURN/CONFRONTATION/RECOVERY/RECONCILIATION/MEANING.
In true Hollywood fashion, there is a climaxing, unstoppable tornado and a doomed populus in its direct path. Because Kate and Tyler have been working together on an updated version of her original experiment, Kate now has another opportunity to implement her vision. She drives into the storm and deploys the modernized plan. TAKING A RISK/SELF-SACRIFICE.
By the end, the experiment works, the storm dissipates and the townspeople are saved. She now has new work to do. RESPONDING TO LIFE/RESILIENCE.
Let’s take a look at the focused astrological themes and how we might ride the storms without too much collateral damage.

Whenever I discuss the archetypes, I always describe them on a spectrum. We may come into this life with certain energies (our birth charts), but they are always in a state of change, evolution. I talked about this in a video on my YouTube channel called the Origin of Change Convergence.
Speaking of the spectrum of moving from nascience or naivety to fully integrated archetypal energies, we must move through them in terms of evolution, ever growing and changing, always in a state of becoming.
A Jungian term like ‘shadow’ is often used to describe the parts of our psyches that we hide from ourselves and the world. When we acknowledge and work to bring them to ‘light’, we can become more whole and psychologically healthy.
Pisces takes us into the void, the unbound unconsciousness, the Oneness. Piscean experiences can be incredibly overwhelming with complete loss of meaning and the inescapable surrender that is required. It is completion. The shadow of Pisces is escapism, victimhood, and frustrated futility. Yet, through the integration, we can come to complete acceptance of what is and we can find new inspiration, hope. We can begin to dream again.
Aries invites us into rebirth. Arian experiences can feel invigorating, but also terrifying as there is no sense of direction and an encompassing insecurity. The shadow of Aries can be impulsivity and/or complete hesitancy, moving at full-force that can be interpreted as aggression, acting before thinking/moving without intention. Through integration, we can use this powerful force for creating change, motivation, and courage to face our fears.
A significant focus for this New Moon is the importance of confronting and overcoming fear - only by facing it head-on can we find growth and freedom. In life, flexibility and the ability to pivot when things don’t go as planned is essential for overcoming adversity and finding new solutions to problems. Clarity of purpose can keep us moving forward, even in the most uncertain situations. This is responding to life with resilience - how we adapt and face the chaos, rather than avoid it, is what defines our strength. The message I feel in this eclipse energy is that even in the darkest times, hope and purpose can drive you to keep moving forward, helping you find meaning in chaos even, and especially, when it includes a deep recollection and review of your past.
“You don't face your fears, you ride 'em.” Tyler Owens in Twisters.
Here is my video on the Aries Solar Eclipse from 2024. The nodes and a few planets have moved, but many of the energies are currently present and have a similar theme.
Freedom is on the other side. Until next time, take care of you!
